A pair of summer interns from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – both pilots – are flying high at Naples Airport for a unique, hands-on experience exploring the aviation industry.
The Naples Airport Authority selected Brianna Motz and Michael Holmes for an eight-week internship program that offers real-world opportunities to explore career paths available at general aviation airports. This summer, Brianna and Michael will have opportunities to rotate through multiple departments, including airport operations, fixed-base operator services, finance and administration, human resources, training and talent development, and executive management.
Brianna Motz
Brianna is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aviation business administration at Embry-Riddle, but she’s no stranger to Naples Airport, having earned an Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL) private pilot license in Naples followed by her instrument rating in Daytona. A graduate of Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Brianna developed a strong interest in aviation and airport operations, and she has experience supporting schedule development, customer service and daily operations through Marco Flight School. She expects to complete her degree in spring 2027. Brianna is an FAA-certified drone pilot and holds an industry-recognized safety certification from the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI).
Fun fact: Brianna’s passion for aviation began at a young age after her father surprised her with a discovery flight at Naples Airport. That experience ignited her interest in aviation and ultimately led her to pursue a career in the industry.
Michael Holmes
Michael expects to complete a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science at Embry-Riddle in spring 2027. He earned an Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL) private pilot license, commercial pilot license and is an FAA-certified advanced ground instructor, instrument ground instructor and certified flight instructor. He also maintains remote pilot certification. A graduate of Valley Central High School in New York, Michael recently entered the Republic Airways RJet Cadet Program, which concludes with a conditional offer as a first officer with the company upon program completion.
Fun fact: Michael earned Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor, the Eagle Scout Award, for a project cleaning, painting and repairing the sign holder and cupola and installing six flag poles for the Montgomery American Legion Post 521.
Brianna and Michael’s summer internships run through the end of July.
