The NAA Welcomes Two New Members to Serve on Public Advisory Committees
— Lawrence Bennell Joins the Noise Compatibility Committee and
Michael Bingaman Joins the Technical Advisory Committee —
The Naples Airport Authority is pleased to announce two new advisory committee members. The NAA Board of Commissioners selected Lawrence Bennell to represent the airport’s southwest quadrant on the Noise Compatibility Committee (NCC) and Michael Bingaman to serve as the airport’s southwest quadrant representative on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
A Naples resident for 14 years, Bennell is retired after more than 40 years as a professional pilot and director of aviation for a Fortune 500 company. Bennell possesses years of experience and qualifications as a pilot involved in noise-compliance regulations at numerous noise sensitive airports throughout the US and Europe. This technical expertise and insight will contribute greatly to the NCC.
Retired after 34 years as a flight attendant with Continental and United Airlines, Bingaman’s service in the aviation industry combined with his local volunteer work gives him the ability to step right into the TAC at a critical point in the Part 150 Noise Study. A resident of the Old Naples neighborhood, Bingaman looks forward to working with the other TAC members and the public to evaluate and suggest reasonable solutions to benefit the community as a whole.
The NAA thanks Jim Gilligan and Ray Stricklen for their respective service on the NCC and TAC.
The NCC is comprised of nine citizen volunteers who help monitor the impact of aircraft noise and make recommendations about noise-mitigation procedures for consideration by the NAA Board. The members serve as volunteer representatives of the Collier County Commission, Naples City Council, general aviation pilots and six geographic areas surrounding the airport.
The TAC is made up of community volunteers representing city, county and stakeholder groups. The role of the TAC is to provide technical input and feedback relative to the Part 150 Noise Study.
