Stacey Nichols Honored as ATC Manager of the Year
— Award Received for Outstanding Achievement
in Air Traffic Management —
Naples Airport is well known for being one of the nation’s busiest general aviation airports, especially during peak season. The 2020 season was both longer and busier than normal due to COVID-19 impacts that changed travel patterns and created unpredictable demand. Despite these challenges, the airport continued to operate safely and smoothly. A key reason for that was Air Traffic Manager Stacey Nichols and her team of controllers in the tower. Through their extraordinary efforts, Stacey received the Air Traffic Control Manager of the Year award from the Air Traffic Control Association.
It takes many people and partners to ensure the Naples Airport’s busy operation is well coordinated and remains safe. Stacey is a standout in her commitment to air traffic safety at the Naples Airport where she has managed the Air Traffic Control Tower since May 2020.
In his submittal to the awards committee, NAA Deputy Director of Aviation Justin Lobb emphasized Stacey’s outstanding leadership as Tower Manager during a very difficult 2020. “Every possible precaution was taken at the Naples Tower to keep the controllers safe and ensure that they have been able to operate the tower every day throughout this past year including during our busiest winter season ever.”
Lobb continued, “Stacey and her team are routinely praised by our tenants and transient pilots through the NAA’s annual survey and during my conversations with them. Comments routinely include reference to the heaviest air traffic days in which they provide the perfect balance of efficiency and safety and how fortunate we are to have this talented group here at Naples Airport.”
The NAA congratulates Stacey on receiving this hard-earned and well-deserved award. The airport community appreciates and thanks her for the dedication and professionalism she brings to her work.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
