NOISE ABATEMENT SPECIALIST

THE POSITION

This position is responsible for working with the airport noise program for the City of Naples Airport Authority. Work involves communicating with the public regarding aircraft noise concerns; promoting noise abatement procedures among all airport users; and working with an established committee to enhance the airport noise program. Requires managing the noise comment hotline and website and working with data from different sources to prepare presentations, written reports, and documentation.

Some of the position duties include:

  • Initiates, develops, executes, and promotes internal and external communications and stakeholder outreach programs as a representative of the Authority’s Executive Department.
  • Analyzes, plans, develops, recommends, and implements procedures, and/or methods for the continual improvement of the airport noise program.
  • Receives, reviews and analyzes noise comments received from the public; researches comments as required; responds to comments by telephone, correspondence, report or other action if required; works with all parties to investigate and resolve issues. May refer some calls to specific noise committee members or to Executive Management.
  • Maintains comment records; logs actions taken on comments and enters correct information as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Must have ability to patiently and compassionately listen to citizens while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Must have working knowledge of airport operations and noise abatement issues, airport rules and regulations, related federal regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in aviation management, planning, business or public administration, communications, journalism or other appropriate field, and a minimum of two years of closely related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of closely related training, education and experience.
  • At least one year of related aviation or customer service experience.
  • A driving record that meets the Authority’s driving standards.
