Naples is truly a beautiful place to work and live! The region continues to draw national attention with record-setting real estate activity. The sale of a waterfront property for $225 million in April 2025 has underscored the strength of the local economy and the sustained appeal of Southwest Florida’s beautiful natural setting.

As the Naples Daily News and News-Press recently reported in a special feature, it’s the most expensive home sale in Collier County in 2025 – and it didn’t just break the record, it shattered it.

Article reporter Andrea Stetson noted that the sale of this family legacy compound, which comprised three adjacent waterfront properties on Gordon Drive, became the largest residential transaction in Florida’s history. This also makes it one of the largest residential transactions ever in the United States. Before the sale, a home sold in 2022 in Aqualine Shores held the record for Collier County real estate sales at $62 million.

The recently sold property spans 15.01 acres and has about 800 feet of Gulf frontage. According to the sale’s broker, Michael McCumber of The McCumber Group at Waterfront Realty Group, the deal took a year to complete and entailed using 15 attorneys from various countries.

As McCumber notes, Naples checks all the boxes for an ideal place to live – including the Naples Airport on his list of valued regional amenities. “White sandy beaches, dining, restaurants, boating, number one is taxes in Florida,” he said. “The Naples airport is a very large draw. It caters to the wealthy with private jets…” he said. “Naples is setting a trend because we have all the amenities… By closing this record-breaking deal, we’ve once again raised the bar.”

The Naples Airport is a vital community asset that provides convenient access to the City of Naples and Collier County for residents and visitors alike. The airport is also home to critical public services, including the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Collier Mosquito Control District, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Fire Station 3, and Collier County EMS MedFlight. It also serves as a staging hub for recovery operations during emergencies. The airport’s tenants include private and corporate aviation, air charter, aircraft maintenance and repair services, car rental brands and flight schools.

Naples Airport Authority (NAA), an independent government agency that operates Naples Airport, receives no local tax dollars; it is primarily funded through fuel sales, hangar rentals and other related services. The Florida Department of Transportation has estimated Naples Airport’s annual economic impact at $781 million.
