Naples Airport Tenant Spotlight: Humane Society Naples
Humane Society Naples (HSN) has been operating onsite at the Naples Airport since the first shelter opened its doors in 1963, making them one of the longest continuous tenants at the airport!
HSN is a no-kill animal shelter with the mission to shelter animals in times of need, locate life-long homes and advocate for responsible pet ownership. At the Naples Airport location, HSN houses an adoption center, a full-service veterinary clinic and behavioral training facilities.
Although HSN’s primary mission is to find loving homes for homeless animals, they also work with struggling families to help them keep their animals. HSN provides programs such as the Pet Food Pantry, which provides pet food at no cost to needy families, and the Paige Conery Mobile Veterinary Clinic, which provides low to no-cost medical services to underserved areas in the community. Their onsite Behavior Specialist Team assists families who may have behavior-related concerns about their pets, and also works closely with shelter animals to get them ready for their new homes.
Another unique benefit is exposing the shelter residents to all the different sounds of an airport. Hearing these special noises helps them learn to remain calm, which in turn prepares them for their new lives outside the shelter in a home.
