NAA April 18th Board Meeting Recap

On April 18th, the Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners held its monthly board meeting. Watch the meeting here, or read a recap of meeting highlights below:

• General Aviation Terminal (GAT) Interior and Exterior Improvements: Architecture firm ShenkelSchultz presented their suggestions for interior and exterior improvements to the general aviation terminal. The project scope involves renovating the GAT’s restrooms, enhancing the HVAC system, upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting, and implementing other improvement projects. This project is scheduled to take place during the summer to minimize disruptions to airport operations.
• Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Foam Transition: NAA staff have drafted a comprehensive plan to shift the Airport’s ARFF vehicles from aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) to F3 foam. The new foam, recently approved after decades of FAA-mandated AFFF use, presents a more environmentally friendly option.
• Soil and Water Testing at the Airport: The NAA hired EG Solutions, an external consultant, to conduct soil and water testing at 40 sites around the airport. The results indicate that lead is not a concern at APF, with levels typically 800 times lower than the EPA standard.
