NAA and Naples City Council Meeting Recap and Follow-up Meeting
On Monday September 12th, the Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners and Naples City Council met to discuss issues related to the Naples Airport. During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed including the Master Plan, Part 150 Study and possible next steps.
During the meeting, the consultants from Environmental Science Associates (ESA) presented on the NAA Master Plan and the ongoing Part 150 Study as well as the NAA’s efforts to reduce noise impacts outside of the formal study process.
Peter Kirsch, attorney for the NAA, then presented on the NAA’s history as a leader in working to improve noise abatement, the framework of federal law and what would be required to pursue further changes from the FAA.
The workshop was cut short before an agenda item to discuss possible access restrictions prepared by the City and their aviation attorney could be presented.
After a recess, the City Council discussed holding a City Council Special Meeting on Monday, September 19th to receive additional legal guidance pertaining to the NAA and how the airport fits in to the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The video of the joint meeting can be viewed here.
The City Council will be hosting two meetings on Monday, September 19th:
- City Council Workshop at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will discuss how the airport fits into the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The workshop agenda can be found here.
