May 1996
  • NAA extends hours on restriction for engine maintenance run-ups from 10:00 PM to 7: 00 AM. ( Previous hours were 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM)
  • NAA implements mandatory curfew for Stage 1 aircraft from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • NAA implements voluntary cessation of flight operations for Stage 2 and 3 Class Jet Aircraft from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Helicopter operators are requested voluntarily to use preferred helicopter arrival and departure routes
May 1997
  • NAA implements restriction on aircraft weighing over 75,000 pounds maximum gross weight pursuant to FAA Order 5190.6A
  • Departure turn program initiated by FAA to turn aircraft immediately upon departure - reducing the amount of aircraft flying over extremely noise sensitive areas of our community
January 1998
  • NAA Noise Compatibility Committee recommended to the Naples Airport Authority a ban on all Stage 1 jet operations - 24 hours
March 1999
  • FAA approved Part 150 Update and a total ban on Stage 1 aircraft was implemented
May 1999
  • NAA Noise Compatibility Committee recommended to the Naples Airport Authority a ban on all Stage 2 jet operations - 24 hours
July 1999
  • Part 150 Update (Phase I) begins (NEM Update and Airport Activity Forecast Update) to study Stage 2 operational issues
  • Development and implementation of long-term recurrent noise monitoring program. Reports are included in the Quarterly Noise Report Summary
January 2000
  • Part 161 Study (Phase II) begins to review alternatives to the restriction of Stage 2 aircraft
May 2000
  • NEM Update completed and submitted to FAA
June 2000
  • Public Forums held with local residents and aircraft operators
  • Thousands of notices mailed to aircraft owners and extensive advertising effort implemented
  • Part 161 Study completed and submitted to FAA - Official public comment period begins (June 30 to August 21)
September 2000
  • NAA staff meets with FAA (Washington) to review Stage 2 restriction alternatives
October 2000
  • NAA staff meet again with FAA to review their comments on our study
  • NAA staff meets with NBAA
November 2000
  • NAA adopts by resolution the proposed use restriction banning all Stage 2 jet aircraft from operating at Naples, with the exception of Air Ambulance and valid emergency operations
January 2001
  • Stage 2 jet aircraft ban takes effect. Resolution 2000-8
August 2001
  • Supplemental Analysis to the Part 161 Study is completed and released to the public
  • NAA wins court case with NBAA
October 2001
  • The FAA approves the Part 161 Study
  • The FAA begins Notice of Investigation (Part 16)
March 2002
  • The NAA begins enforcement of the Stage 2 jet ban
July 2002
  • The NAA wins court case with Continental Aviation Service
June 2005
  •  The NAA Stage 2 jet ban upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit
