Naples Airport Authority wins environmental award
Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) has selected Naples Airport Authority as the winner of its 2003 Environmental Achievement Awards. The Naples Airport Authority joins the winner's circle with the Regional Airport Authority of Louisville and Jefferson County, which won the award for larger airports.
Naples Airport Authority’s submission highlighted its significant environmental efforts to include
a noise management program – considered one of the most aggressive in the United States, a safety and environmental project, a storm water management project and a storm water pollution prevention program."The ACI-NA Environmental Achievement Awards highlight the efforts of our members whose programs protect and preserve the natural environment above and beyond federal and state regulatory compliance standards," said Dawn E. Lucini, ACI-NA’s Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs.
"We are honored to be a recipient of this award," said Peter Eschauzier, Chairman, Naples Airport Authority. "It is certainly a validation of the significant efforts we have undertaken in ensuring that we make every effort to ensure that our projects are environmentally friendly," he added.
The Naples Airport Authority will be recognized at ACI-NA’s 12th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Tampa Bay, Fla., Sept. 17, 2003, at the Chairman’s Honors Luncheon. In addition, the staff will make a presentation during the Environmental Affairs Committee meeting on Sept. 14 outlining the airport's environmental program.
ACI-NA represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. ACI-NA member airports enplane more than 98 percent of the domestic and virtually all the international airline passenger and cargo traffic in North America. Over 370 aviation-related businesses are also members of the association, which is the largest of the six worldwide regions of Airports Council International.
